Staying Local

Sorry for the long hiatus between this report and the last on April 12.  Since the last report Coley has focused most of his fishing in the immediate vicinity of his nest, with one more foray out to Hempstead Lake on April 19.

Reports from the Refuge have all been positive, and Rangers have spotted Coley fishing and bringing nest material to his mate.  The pair produced three eggs that should start hatching by this weekend.

Below is a map of Coley’s flights over the past few weeks.

Bull’s eyes = Osprey’s location every hour.
Lines = Sequence of locations in time (not the actual flight path)

  1. Hi and thanks for the update! I’ve been looking forward to hearing more about Coley and am so glad to hear he is doing well. Will watch for updates on the hatching of the chicks. All the best, Diane

  2. Thank you for the good news…. wish a camera was at the nest so we could see the growing family…
